Cirque du Soleil Starts Today...

Thursday March 12, 2009

...and runs through April 5.

The French-Canadian circus unlike any other has added nine shows to its original run, which begins this evening under a tent at M&T Bank Stadium. The show is entitled "KOOZA", touted as "a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil: It combines two circus traditions – acrobatic performance and the art of clowning. The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its splendor and fragility, presented in a colorful mélange that emphasizes bold slapstick humor."

Wow. I'll give you a minute to let that sink in.

I've never seen Cirque du Soleil, but it certainly sounds intriguing. Catching this world renowned act, which features an act dubbed "Wheel of Death," won't be cheap. Tickets run from $55 to $220 for adults, $38.50 to $154 for children ages 2 to 12, and $49.50 to $112.50 for students 13 and older or seniors 65 and older, each must have a valid ID.
