Weekend Roundup

Follow me on:

It's a festival-filled weekend in Baltimore.

  • Honfest - Baltimore kitch at its finest, Honfest is a celebration of all things Bawlmer - especially big hair. Since its beginning in 1994, this festival has exploded in popularity, and now includes the Miss Hon contest, along with the requisite food, drink, and live music. W. 36th St. in Hampden is the epicenter of all things Hon. Saturday beginning at 11, Sunday at noon.

  • St. Anthony Italian Festival - Little Italy is the setting, appropriately enough, for this festival celebrating wine and food from the old country. Saturday and Sunday beginning at noon.

  • Greek Folk Festival - Held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Greektown, 520 S. Ponca St. Baltimore's Greek community shows off for four days with dancing, costumes, cooking demonstrations, food (including dishes such as patstitsio, spanakopita and andsouvlaki) and tours of St. Nicholas. Special guest this year: American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis will perform a free concert on tonight at 7 p.m.

  • Great Grapes! Wine, Art and Food Festival - The name says it all: Wine, art, and food. What's not to like? Beautiful Oregon Ridge State Park in Cockeysville is the setting for this 7th-annual festival. A dozen wineries and 150 wines will be on tap. Tickets are $22 at the door, and include a souvenir wine glass, unlimited samples, all performances and cooking demonstrations. Kids 12 and under are free.

A few other notes: The final LPGA Championship at Bulle Rock is being contested today through Sunday in Havre de Grace, and don't forget about Flag Day at Fort McHenry on Sunday.

    Have a great weekend.

    Teresa,

I did mention the Flag Day fireworks at the bottom of the post. Hope you caught them – I watched them from my deck. Hope you had a great weekend.
