NCAA Lacrosse Championships Coming to Baltimore

Tuesday June 23, 2009

Baltimore is considered by many to be the capital of lacrosse. The Lacrosse Museum and National Hall of Fame in here, on the campus of Johns Hopkins University, one of the most storied collegiate programs in the sport.

Now, the 2010 NCAA men's and women's Division I lacrosse championships are here too.

The NCAA recently announced that the men's Final Four will be held at M&T Bank Stadium, while the women's national semifinals and final will be contested at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium. In addition, M&T Bank Stadium also will host the 2011 men's Final Four.

"I think as a committee and as a sport, it's important for us to look at this championship as something that we're trying to continue to grow and take it to levels above where we are now," Tim Pavlechko, chair of the men's selection committee, told The Sun. "We know bringing it to Baltimore will certainly help us achieve more of those goals."
