The Sun reported yesterday that legendary city restaurant, the Brass Elephant, has closed.
The Mount Vernon institutition was known for its quality food and the beauty of its dining room and bar. But business has been slow lately, co-owner Randy Stahl told the paper. Very slow. As in, there were no reservations for this week when he decided to shut down.
"It's a little difficult to continue to prepare food and have it sitting there when you have no reservations," he said. "It's almost impossible."
I have eaten at the Brass Elephant and enjoyed it, but not in several years. I guess too many people are in the same boat as me. Stahl said he's hoping to sell the building and use the money to possibly reopen the restaurant. Let's hope he's successful - Baltimore is a better culinary town with the Brass Elephant.
