Attending College in Baltimore

Monday September 21, 2009

In light of the fact that Johns Hopkins, one of the world's finest institutions of higher learning, has been in the news lately for a not-so-positive event, this comes as a welcome development.

A study by the American Institute of Economic Research ranks Baltimore the seventh-best city in the U.S. to attend college.

Analysts compared the nation's 360 metropolitan statistical areas on factors including academic environment, quality of life and professional opportunities, according to a story in the Baltimore Business Journal.

Most people 's first thought is Hopkins when associating Baltimore and universities, but there are plenty of other fine ones in the metropolitan area, including Loyola, College of Notre Dame, Morgan St., Coppin St., Towson, UMBC and more.

The survey ranked New York City as the No. 1, followed by San Francisco, Boston, Washington D.C. and Seattle.
