City's New Free Circulator Bus Debuts

From Mike Unger, About.com GuideJanuary 12, 2010

Follow me on:

Baltimore's long-awaited Charm City Circulator bus carried its first passengers yesterday.

The free bus' Orange Route runs from Hollins Market to Harbor East. A fleet of 21 buses will arrive at each stop every 10 minutes. In the coming months, the circulator will roll out the Green Route, which will run from City Hall to Fells Point to Johns Hopkins, and the Purple Route, which will run from Penn Station to Federal Hill.

The buses are 2009 EcoSaver IV LF Hybrid Electric vehicles--the first fleet of this type in a major metropolitan area.

This is a fantastic city initiative, one championed by Mayor (for another few weeks) Dixon, who should be congratulated for her work on the project.

If anyone takes a circulator soon, let me know how it goes.
