ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. - Greetings from sunny and warm Florida, where the Baltimore Orioles will begin their 2010 season this evening against the Tampa Bay Rays.

If you've never been to Tropicana Field, well, you're not missing much. It's a dark, dank dome on the outskirts of downtown St. Pete, which is sleepy on even its most hopping nights (the city of Tampa actually is located about 20 miles away across Tampa Bay). But there are a smattering of bars and restaurants around the "park" I'll be visiting before the game to keep an eye out for orange-and-black-clad fans. Tonight's pitching match-up (James Shields vs. Kevin Millwood) definitely favors Tampa, but part of baseball's allure is that anything can happen on any given night.
First pitch is at 7:10, and the game will be televised on MASN. So if you can't be here, do the next best thing: sit back, relax, crack a cold one (Natty Boh?) and enjoy the game!
