The Baltimore Marathon is this Saturday. It's a great event for the thousands of runners and fans involved, but it can cause headaches for residents and visitors who aren't prepared for the traffic and parking restrictions.
Luckily, after clicking on the link seven words ago, you are prepared. The forecast looks to be cool and clear, perfect for those dedicated and crazy enough to run 26 miles. The marathon route runs right by my house, so each year I emerged from my bed, plop myself on my front stoop (with a bloody mary) and root on the runners. It's a blast - and inspiring. I'll never forget the time I saw a man with two prosthetic legs huffing and puffing his way up the hill. Nothing was gonna force him to stop.
He was in the middle of the pack. Runners pass by my house for hours. By the end most are walking (some slowly), but anyone who crosses the finish line - no matter what their time - should be proud of their accomplishment.
