Twenty is the new 90 when it comes to baseball parks.
Next year our beautiful baseball stadium, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, turns the big two-oh, and it will have a subtle new look. According to the Canadian Press (yup, that's where I first saw this news), the seating capacity will be reduced to 45,971 from 48,290.
Why? Aside from the fact that other than Yankees games and Matt Wieters debuts (I think those are over), 45, 000 seats should be plenty, the Maryland Stadium Authority is furnishing the club level and upper deck with wider seats, and less intrusive railings will be installed in front of the first few rows of both levels.
There also are plans for bistro tables facing the field on the left-field club level.
File this under "Oh my God, how old am I getting?" - Camden Yards is the Majors 11th oldest ballpark. Quick quiz: Can you name the older 10?
(I'll post the answer sometime next week in a blog)
