Baltimore's Walters Art Museum Enters the Blogosphere
By now, a lot of you know that the Walters Art Museum is free all the time. If you didn't know that, guess what? The Walters as well as the Baltimore Museum of Art are FREE! Beginning in October, the two venerable Baltimore institutions eliminated admission fees.
Now that we're all on the same page about that, what you might not know is that Walters' director Gary Vikan writes a Director's Blog, in which he discusses national and local issues that museums and the art community face. The blog, started last month, usually comes in weekly installments and is, he believes, the only one of its kind in the country. His posts are interesting and understandable to the casual art observer, like me, but elicit thoughtful comments from more informed folks.
On another note, the Walters annual event Art Blooms 2007, a fundraiser that celebrates spring by highlighting floral art, is coming up at the end of the month. For more information on this and other events, check out this March events calendar.
