MLK Day Closings and Transportation Schedules

Closures

All banks and federal goverment offices (including the US Postal Service) observe the Martin Luther King holiday. Both the City and County public schools are closed as are most parochial and private ones.

Baltimore City
Baltimore City offices, courts and libraries will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21 in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. There will be no trash or recycling pickup. Parking meters must be fed.

Baltimore County
Baltimore County government offices, courts, Health Department clinics, libraries and senior centers will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21. CountyRide vans will not run. Parking meters must be fed as usual. Trash and recyclables will be collected according to the normal schedule on the holiday.

Transportation

  • There is no MARC train service on Jan. 21 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
  • MTA buses, Metro and Light Rail run on a regular schedule.
  • Commuter buses are on a holiday schedule (only trips with an "H" above the Trip number on the schedule will operate).
  • Mobility and paratransit vehicles have regular service, which requires 24 hour advance reservation.
