The dolphin show at the Baltimore Aquarium -- Play! -- is all about, well, dolphins. Now if that seems like an obvious point to you, then you've probably never been to Sea World, where the show is about acrobatics and show biz pizzazz. Conservation and science are the themes here. And the audience leaves with not only amazed by the dolphins flips and jumps, but with a deeper appreciation for the marine mammals.
Large monitors on either side of the pool replay some of the action plus show supplemental films geared toward conservation. Education is an important part of the Aquarium's mission, and the dolphin show is no exception. Trainers show off the dolphins leaps and splashes as they explain how they taught these moves. Trainers even recruit a few audience member to give hand signals and reinforcement to the playful mammals. The show last about 30 minutes.
Dolphin Show Tickets and Showtimes
Visitors must opt to include the dolphin show when purchasing tickets. (Dolphin shows add about $2-$4 to the ticket price, but are free for members.) Dolphin show tickets are for a specific showtime. More on Aquarium TicketsIt's best to arrive at least 15 minutes before showtime in order to get a good seat, though even the back rows have a good view of the show. Sit in the "Splash Zone" (the first few rows) only if you don't mind getting wet. More Aquarium tips
