by Laureen Miles Brunelli
for About.com

A wacky display of art on wheels and in water, the Kinetic Sculpture Race, an annual event in Baltimore, makes its way from the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) through the Inner Harbor. It makes a stop at the Canton waterfront for a dip in the bay then up to Patterson Park and back through downtown ending at the museum.

This year's contest is Saturday, May 3, starting at the American Visionary Art Museum. While the race begins at 10 a.m., safety checks and opening ceremonies start earlier. Check here for a full schedule and race route.
