M16 Stellar Spire in the Eagle Nebula from Hubble Telecope As host to the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), Hubble's earthly home base, Baltimore benefits from this collaboration between STScI, Johns Hopkins University and the Walters, which together provide the images, curatorial expertise and the exhibition space for this look into the cosmos.
As with all maps, the artistry of the mapmaker enhances the image, and these views of space are no exception. Hubble doesn't send fully colored photos. But STScI's Zolt Levay interprets the data with the eye of an artist. This exhibit of Hubble photos on display Feb. 2 - July 27.
