St. Patrick's Day Parade

Lee Benedict

Baltimore kicks off its wearin' of the green every year with a grand St. Patrick's Day Parade. Troupes of Irish dancer prance down Pratt Street in the Inner Harbor, with bagpipe players in colorful kilts and bands like the Marching Ravens, all following along.

On the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day, Baltimore salutes the patron saint of Ireland with a parade that begins in Mount Vernon and finally disbands at Power Plant Live!

See parade route.

The festivities of the St. Patrick's Day Parade include a 5K race with a finish line at Power Plant Live! and a brunch (both on the day of the parade) plus numerous fundraisers in Baltimore's Irish restaurants, leading up to the event.

  • Shamrock 5K - Runners in this 5K race trace the parade route prior to the parade's kick off. And end at Power Plant Live! where cold beer awaits them.
  • Parade Champagne Brunch - Held at the Camden Club next to Oriole Park at Camden Yards, most years this annual event includes a Mass. However, since the 2008 parade is on Palm Sunday, there is no Mass. Reservations (with payment) must be made in advance. Call 410-485-5834 or 443-838-5162. Adults $30; ages 3-14 $14.
  • Fundraisers - Starting in December several local Irish pubs, including James Joyce in Harbor East, throw fundraisers for the event.
