Maps: Finding Our Place in the World
Walters Art Museum
Major map exhibit at the Walters explores maps as an art form, a science and a part of everyday life. The exhibition includes everything from works by Leonardo da Vinci to the first map of the United States as annotated for the Treaty of Paris. But it also expands the definition of a map to include African scuptures and images from Hubble Telecope.
Preakness Week
Of course, nowadays Preakness Week seems a misnomer. The celebrations that lead up to the Preakness Stakes go on for two weeks now. But Preakness Fortnight just wouldn't sound as good.

Biking festival highlights include recreation rides, men's and women's races, stunt shows, kids events and helmet giveaways, live music, food and beer.

Maryland Film Festival

Charles Theatre, MICA, Unversity of Baltimore
The city's annual cinematic celebration takes over the Charles Theatre's five screen but also spreads to MICA and University of Baltimore campuses. Barry Levinson is opening night host of the festival, which includes shorts, documentaries and narrative films.
Kinetic Sculpture Race
Opening ceremonies at the American Visionary Art Museum at 9:30 a.m.
A wacky display of art on wheels and in water, the Kinetic Sculpture Race, an annual event in Baltimore, makes its way from the AVAM through the Inner Harbor. It makes a stop at the Canton waterfront for a dip in the bay then up to Patterson Park and back through downtown ending at the museum.

Indulge in spring fever at this blossom bazaar. For 90 years, this flower fiesta has showcased flora, arts, crafts and antiques. Pick up gardening tips at the plant clinics, or get a little silly with floral hats and contests for costumed pets.
