Haunted houses, hayrides-gone-haywire and hellish hikes are all part of the Halloween in Baltimore.
This list of Halloween attractions covers a lot of ground from the Pennsylvania line to Baltimore and Cecil Counties to areas south of Baltimore near Washington DC. Find the one closest to you or see them all.
With the exception of Six Flags Fright Fest, all of these attractions are open only at night and would be too scary for most elementary school-age children.
Six Flags Fright Fest

While not strictly a haunted house, hike or hay ride, Six Flags does Halloween right. Where else can you lie in a coffin filled with meal worms or dine on cockroaches? During the day, kids can trick-or-treat, but at night the ghouls hit the street. Haunted rides provide creepy thrills.

13th Inning Fright Fest at Ripken Stadium
Aberdeen-Harford CountySaturdays and Sundays, Oct. 12-28 and Oct. 29-31

Visit two baseball-themed spooky attractions, Castle Frankenstein and the 13th Inning. Castle Frankenstein is a classic castle of terror while The 13th Inning tells the legend of the bloody clubhouse of ex-manager Justin Bobby.
Bennett's Curse

Two attractions in one, "House of the Vampyres" is the high-tech haunted house, while the "Sanctuary of Insanity" uses inflatable technology to create a labyrinth. Look out for the Bennett's Curse creatures in both attractions.
Cox's Point Haunted Mansion

The price is right on this 15-minute tour run by the Essex Recreation & Parks Council. This non-profit, which rates its attraction at a PG-13, has been in the business of scaring folks since 1968.

Bedlam in the Boro
Lineboro – Carroll County$6-25

With both a Haunted hayride and House of Horror, this attraction run by the Lineboro VFD is two times the fun. The four mile long hayride leaves from and returns to the Lineboro Volunteer Fire Department. The hayride is a large wagon pulled by a farm tractor along some of the darkest, spookiest and scariest parts of Lineboro. The hayride is weather-dependent but the 3,200-square-foot haunted house is rain or shine.
Hell-O-Ween Fright Fest
