The holiday season arrives with a fury in December in Baltimore. There are a slew of events throughout the month all over town. Your December Calendar of Events in Baltimore.

|| Washington Monument Lighting ||
December 3, 2009, 7 p.m.

America's oldest monument to our first president is awash in lights for the holiday season. Live entertainment, food, drink, and even fireworks are on the tap during the pre-event, which starts at 5:30 in the heart of Mount Vernon.

|| The Christmas Story exhibit opens at the Walters Art Museum ||
December 3, 2009 through Feb. 28, 2009

"The Christmas Story: Picturing the Birth of Christ in Medieval Manuscripts" draws on the Walters holdings and an anonymous private collection.

|| Night of 1,000 Elvises ||
December 4, 2009, 6 p.m.

A uniquely Baltimore event, Elvises as far as the eye can see gather at the Lithuanian Hall, 851-3 Hollins St. The main ballroom will host at least 12 bands and 12 Elvis tribute artists. All entertainers will perform all Elvis music, all night. No song will be duplicated in the ballroom. You get the picture. Tickets are $55 and include drinks and a southern buffet.

|| Dollar Days Weekend ||
December 5 and 6, 2009

Every year for one weekend in December, downtown Baltimore attractions drop admission prices to $1 or less. Dollar admission at the Baltimore Aquarium may be the highlight, but dozens of other attractions also offer up this holiday treat. The 2009 dates are December 5th and 6th.

|| Highlandtown Train Garden ||
Opens December 5, 2009

Highlandtown's firehouse, Engine Company 41, hosts a 16-by-8-foot two-tier train set-up. It's open to the public Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m., and Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m. The station is located at 520 S. Conkling St.

|| Children's Chorus of Maryland Holiday Concert ||
December 6, 2009

The Gordon Center for Performing Arts in Owings Mills (3506 Gwynnbrook Ave.) hosts its 34th-annual holiday concert at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12-$18 and can be purchased online.

|| Mayor's Annual Christmas Parade ||
December 7, 2009, 2 p.m.

The annual parade begins at Poly/Western High School and ends on 37th St. It's a 2.5-mile path that includes more than 150 marching units. This year's Miss Yuletide is Maggie Terhune, and the grand marshall is Nicholas Greer.

|| BCF Tennis Challenge ||
December 9, 2009, 7 p.m.

U.S. Open stars John Isner and Melanie Oudin highlight the lineup this year at Baltimore's annual tennis event, which raises money for the Baltimore Community Foundation. The first serve is hit at 7 p.m. at 1st Mariner Arena. Tickets start at $25 and can be ordered by calling Ticketmaster or online.

|| Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes ||
December 17, 2009, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The highest kickers in all the land stop at 1st Mariner Arena for two holiday shows. Tickets start at $25 and are available online.

|| Harlem Globetrotters ||
December 28, 2009, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The clown princes of basketball take down the Washington Generals yet again at 1st Mariner Arena. Tickets start at $20 and are available online.

|| New Year's Eve Spectacular ||
December 31, 2009, 9 p.m.

Count down the end of 2009 and welcome 2010 in the Inner Harbor with live music and fireworks at midnight.
