Washington Monument Lighting and Fireworks

For 2007 A Monumental Occasion: The Annual Lighting of the Washington Monument takes place on Thursday, December 6. Now in its 36th year, the Mount Vernon event, which is presented by Saul Ewing, LLP, will feature local entertainers, food, and holiday activities. Mayor Sheila Dixon will flip the switch that lights the Washington Monument and triggers a dazzling fireworks display.

The holiday village featuring food and crafts vendors will open in Mount Vernon’s West park at 5:30 p.m. The entertainment on stage will begin at 6 p.m. and the Monument Lighting and fireworks display will occur shortly before 7 p.m.
