In front of more than 100,000 spectators at Baltimore's Pimlico Race Course, Big Brown cruised to victory in the 2008 Preakness Stakes. In another late-but-decisive break from the pack, as at the Kentucky Derby two weeks earlier, Big Brown won the Preakness Stakes and now goes on to the Belmont Stakes for a shot at the Triple Crown.
The undefeated three-year-old became the 30th horse to win both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness stakes. It remains to be seen whether he can claim the Triple Crown at the Belmont Stakes on June 7, 2008. The last Triple Crown winner was Affirmed in 1978.
