Fells Point and Harbor East Hotels

From , former About.com Guide

These two waterfront neighborhoods by the Inner Harbor, though side by side, are very different.

Fells Point with cobblestone streets and quaint shops is home to boutique hotels, inns and B&Bs. Hotels in Harbor East, site of Baltimore's soon-to-be largest skyscaper, tend to be large chains. Harbor East hotels are more like Inner Harbor hotels, but the rates are lower.

In Harbor East, the rapidly growing neighborhood between the Inner Harbor and Fells Point, this 32-story property is situated right on the water, making it true to its name. The hotel is walking distance to its attractions, and the water taxi stops nearby. The small indoor pool is on an upper floor with a large outdoor patio.

Baltimore Courtyard Inner Harbor/Downtown

Moderate
Harbor East 1000 Aliceanna St.
443-923-4000
Don't let the name fool you. This hotel is located in Harbor East near Fells Point, not the Inner Harbor or downtown. And, franky, I prefer its actual location to either of those inn its name. This Marriott hotel is only a block from the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. And though it shares the general location of its more upscale sister property, it doesn't share the price.

Hilton Garden Inn Baltimore Inner Harbor

Moderate
Harbor East 625 S. President St.
410-609-0778
Set to open December 2, 2007 (but taking reservations now), this Hilton property in the rapidly changing Harbor East neighborhood is near the waterfront and the Landmark Theater, an 8-screen movie theater.
Luxury - $300 and up
Expensive - $250 - $299
Moderate - $150 - $249
Budget - $149 and under
